Position: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000
In this role, you will be responsible for product design, development, and detailing utilizing CAD software and other engineering skills/calculations. You will develop engineering and coordinate a team of Designers, being responsible for specific areas, machines, technologies, and working closely with Project Engineers to reach assigned targets.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Accountable for the completion of 3D modelling, detail design, technical calculations, and product development as assigned by management utilizing the internal software and tools.
2. Responsible for the assigned portion of the product design and development process, ensuring project schedules are maintained while following the Company standards.
3. Coordinate and mentor the Design Engineers, maintaining responsibility for Projects within specific areas, working closely with Project Engineers to reach assigned targets.
4. Develop the layout of areas of equipment, proposal layout, and basic engineering of new mechanical equipment based on Customer requests.
5. Carry out complex mechanical calculations.
6. Oversee Design Engineers during the detail engineering stage.
7. Participate in commercial/technical (basic and detail design) meetings worldwide, involving customer interaction and other business units such as Civil, Piping, and Automation.
8. Assist Purchasing, Manufacturing, Erection, and Commissioning Departments during the handling of developed engineering where necessary.
9. Continuously monitor project progress, identify any areas of concern, escalate where necessary, and manage customer expectations.
10. Support sales activities through drawing/document creation and on-site reverse engineering of products.
11. Liaise with representatives from suppliers during technical evaluations of project solutions.
12. Manage expectations, clarify requirements, and make requests, including submission deadline changes, as required.
About you:
1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
2. 3-5 years of experience in 2D and 3D CAD required (Autodesk Inventor an advantage but not essential) within an OEM structured engineering department.
3. Knowledge in metallurgy, material science, heat treatment; specific knowledge in cutting, welding, heat treatment, and machining.
4. Mechanical calculations (NX, MathCAD, Microsoft Excel).
5. Ability to read design/technical documentation freely.
6. Ability to operate with international documentation: technical books, standards, catalogues, etc. (AutoCAD, Inventor).
7. Experience working in international groups with the ability to communicate both verbally and written within a worldwide team environment.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, focusing on overall results and finer details.
9. Ability to prioritize workload, ensure on-time delivery, and deliver results to Company standards while working on multiple projects.
10. Experience in structured writing in the form of technical reports.
11. Available for regular business travel (worldwide).
12. Basic product/plant understanding and know-how (what pieces go where and how to find reference information).
