We are excited to offer the opportunity for an experienced leader to join our wonderful school and work with our exceptional students who experience a range of needs including SEMH and ASD. The appointed person will lead our 14-19 provision as an inspiring and dedicated Assistant Head of Education 14-19.
Responsibilities will include providing all teachers with an example of the commitment required to achieve excellence and continuous school improvement. For example you will have an overview of:
•learners’ progress, achievement and behaviour
•any risks and barriers to learning
•staffing within their Key Stage, including any performance issues
•curriculum and timetabling
•parental liaison
•learner documentation
We are seeking someone who thrives on working in a challenging but immensely rewarding environment, who are passionate about the development of our pupils and who truly want to make a difference to the lives of young people. Previous experience working within SEN is not essential, however you will need to have the ability to motivate and effectively communicate with children who have SEMH.
The successful candidate will have;
•experience as a successful Middle Leader
•proven track record of providing direction, inspiration and strong leadership to staff
•demonstrated outstanding, sustained and successful experience as a teacher (preferably in a SEN environment)
•demonstrated the ability to work strategically and successfully at a middle or senior leadership team level (desirable)
•an in depth knowledge of the secondary curriculum and the range of qualifications that meet the needs of individual learners
•an in depth knowledge and understanding of students with SEMH needs
•a sense of humour
About Wilds Lodge
Wilds Lodge School is an independent 38 week specialist boarding and day provision for boys and girls (girls are accepted as day students only) for students aged between 5 and 19 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties, set in Empingham, Rutland. We have consistently been assessed as outstanding by Ofsted in our education provision and have received the TES’ ‘Boarding School of the Year’ award in recent years.
