Mechanical Maintenance Technician - Grimsby
Consortium recruitment is proud to represent a market-leading worldwide business that is investing heavily in renewable and sustainable technologies. Our client is looking for a Mechanical Technician to join the team at a heavy process facility in Grimsby.
The Role
As the Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you’ll take the lead on mechanical maintenance tasks, working closely with the Plant Manager. This hands-on role also involves coordinating maintenance schedules, liaising with contractors, and managing spare parts. You’ll oversee repair work, handle breakdowns, and collaborate with other engineers on site to ensure all maintenance activities are carried out effectively. This role will be on a permanent Mon-Fri days basis with no nights or weekends expected.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the Plant Manager with the safe and efficient operation of mechanical and electrical systems across the facility.
2. Lead and execute repairs, equipment overhauls, preventative maintenance (PPM), and serve as the first responder for any equipment breakdowns.
3. Contribute to planned maintenance during both standard operations and shutdown periods.
4. Assist with installation projects, completion of snag lists, and other tasks to enhance site performance.
5. Work in close partnership with the Operations and Engineering teams to meet production and maintenance goals.
6. Act as the go-to expert on specific maintenance processes when needed, including customer site support.
Person Specifications:
1. Recognised mechanical apprenticeship and qualification to NVQ level 3 or equivalent, ideally paired with a City & Guilds mechanical qualification.
2. Prior experience in a Heavy or process engineering environment would be advantageous such as Steel, Recycling, Chemical, Refinery, Quarries, Biomass, Power etc.
3. Strong organisational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
4. Must have excellent Health and Safety awareness.
5. Effective communication skills, with the ability to offer guidance and insights to internal and external parties.
6. Problem-solving mindset, a proactive approach, and a passion for continuous improvement.
7. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team; any leadership or supervisory experience is a bonus.
