Training & Qualification
Essential criteria
* MSc. or equivalent Postgraduate qualification in a healthcare subject, or equivalent experience in a Health Service setting.
* State Registered BMS (HCPC).
* Recognised management qualification at postgraduate diploma level or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
* Postgraduate qualification ideally in specialism.
* Evidence of higher specialist training gained through short courses or distance learning.
* Project / Programme management training.
Experience
Essential criteria
* Experience of managing and leading a large and complex service department, with a significant number of line reports. (As a guide, it would be anticipated that this would usually require 3 years' experience in a senior management role to develop the level of leadership required.)
* Demonstrate a high level of leadership and organisational skills, including the introduction of innovative technology and giving a major contribution to the strategic direction of the service.
* Evidence of effective change management & business planning.
* Awareness of national and local NHS agendas.
Desirable criteria
* Experience of working in a teaching hospital or other busy environment.
* Experience of NHS financial and administrative systems.
* Awareness of national pathology agendas.
