We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and committed registered pharmacy technician to join the dispensary team at York Hospital.
As the Senior Pharmacy Technician in the dispensary you will work within our well-established and friendly team to ensure we deliver the best possible service. This role will enable you to develop your skills within a dispensary environment, it will also enable you to build skills and experience in workflow management and team leading.
You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be well organised and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You must be committed to providing a high-quality patient focused service and be able to adapt to changing demands.
We welcome applications from pharmacy technicians that have registered within the last year or are due to register this year. These applicants, if successful at interview, will be appointed at band 4 for a period of up to 1 year whilst experience is gained, and appropriate competency developed to fully perform the band 5 role.
Main duties of the job
The role of the successful candidate will be varied and fulfilling and includes:
• Management and prioritisation of workflow in the dispensary.
• Dispensing and accuracy checking prescriptions received.
• Allocation and rota planning for the dispensary team and other support staff to ensure that service needs are met.
• Completing appraisals, sickness absence reporting and mentoring of allocated staff.
• Review and implementation of SOPs as required.
• Working closely with the Principal Pharmacy Technician to develop the current service.

Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
9. BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences / QCF Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
10. Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Desirable criteria
11. QCF Level 4 or above in a qualification relevant to the post.
Experience & Knowledge Required
Essential criteria
12. At least one year, post-qualification experience.
13. Supervision and mentoring of junior staff.
Skills & Attributes

14. Good communication & interpersonal skills.

16. Participated in the implementation of changes in service, products and / or systems.
