We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Social Science Teacher to join a good mainstream secondary school in Aylesbury. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified educator to teach Social Sciences, including Sociology and Psychology, across Key Stages 4 and 5 within a supportive school environment focused on academic excellence and student well-being.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will deliver Social Science subjects, with a primary focus on Sociology and Psychology, to students at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons, tracking student progress, and fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment. You will also contribute to curriculum development within the Social Sciences department, sharing best practices and innovative teaching approaches.
Key Responsibilities:
* Teach Sociology and Psychology to students at KS4 and KS5 (GCSE and A-Level)
* Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons that engage and challenge students at different ability levels
* Assess, track, and report on student progress in line with school policies and departmental goals
* Support curriculum development initiatives and collaborate with colleagues to maintain a high standard of teaching across the Social Sciences
* Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement and well-being
* Participate actively in school-wide initiatives focused on academic excellence and continuous improvement
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with a degree in Social Science, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field. Experience teaching Social Science subjects at the GCSE and A-Level stages is essential, and the ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering social awareness, critical thinking, and academic achievement in their students.
Essential Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* Degree in Social Science, Sociology, Psychology, or a related discipline
* Experience teaching Sociology and/or Psychology at KS4 and KS5 (GCSE and A-Level)
* Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and engage students
