The Role
An exciting Internal Development opportunity has arisen within NHS Lanarkshire for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Registered Nurse to join the Respiratory Specialist Nursing Team. We are seeking suitably experienced Registered Nurses who will embrace this exciting and rewarding career opportunity. The post holders should possess knowledge of the management of patients with acute and chronic respiratory disease and will be required, through time and with support, to demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, proactively and as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team. This will involve working across professional and organisational boundaries in partnership with other acute care nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and senior management teams. The applicants should possess the ability to prioritise fluctuating workloads, remain focused and be flexible in an extremely busy and dynamic clinical environment. The post is NHSL wide based and permanent.
Additional Information Specific to the Role
The successful candidate will be fully supported in their professional development of enhanced clinical knowledge and clinical decision-making skills appropriate to the Respiratory Specialist Nurse role.
Qualifications to be undertaken within the role if these are not already gained are:
* Non-medical prescribing NMC registered (NISP)
* Clinical Examination and decision making accredited course
* Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology Module relating to Asthma and COPD.
Please note - completion of Qualification are mandatory within an agreed 3-year time frame. Pan Lanarkshire flexible working is non-negotiable.

What we'll need you to bring
* Registered Nurse or AHP with valid NMC / HCPC Registration
* Educated to Degree Level
* Post graduate qualification at a minimum of Level 10 (Hons) or working towards
* Expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
* Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
* Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery.
* Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
* The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
* Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Effective time management skills
* Working knowledge of basic information technology
* Please note: A driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
* Prescribing level 10
* Clinical decision making level 10
* Anatomy and physiology
* Consideration will be given If above not achieved must be fully committed to undertake above courses
* Further development in house and external training/courses are mandatory and are to be completed within 3 years of employment
* Undertake Specialist Clinics within NHSL policies/ knowledge/ skills ability
* Evidence of recent personal contribution to service planning and redesign projects
* Navigate current and new IT systems within NHSL’s use
* Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to plan and organise workload within a busy service under direction of Job plan/ autonomously with in NHSL policies
* Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively across professional boundaries and with all stakeholders
* Ability to monitor effectiveness of own and others’ clinical practice through quality assurance strategies such as audit, peer review and clinical supervision
* Awareness of the ability to work in accordance with relevant national and local healthcare policies

This role will be based in the Respiratory Specialist Nursing Team within Lanarkshire.
