Field Engineer – Cambridge and surrounding area
Have you had experience running CNC Milling Machines? Maybe setting and operating 4 or 5 axis high speed machines?
This job involves going out to companies in your area doing health and safety and general maintenance checks on CNC machines. It is similar to a Service Engineer's job but not quite as involved. People doing this job are often moved into a fully skilled Service Engineer position within the company.
The job is working in and around Cambridge - so if you live in Cambridge, Newmarket, Huntingdon or in the surrounding area, that would be ideal. You will need a full driving licence.
A fully expensed van and tools are supplied. You will need to be currently living in the area (sponsorship is not available).
Salary: Basic is circa £33,000 + company van + Bonus (circa £3300) + pension + lunch allowance + breakfast allowance if early start + loads of training + fully expensed company vehicle.
This is a great company to work for - it's a cracking position and there are loads of opportunities to develop if that is what you are looking for. The position is available because of promotion.
Although the job is based around the Cambridge area, some overnight stays are required – obviously they are fully expensed but staying away overnight is part of the job occasionally (the average is 5 or 6 times per month – so before applying please ensure that this fits in with your family life).
The job is a permanent position from Day 1. The company is very secure and well established. The company is exceptional to work for, very modern, very high tech, and very well respected.
The company sells high spec CNC Machines - the job involves going out to their clients and doing checks on the machines. The job is Monday to Friday only. Very occasionally, they are asked to work weekends but it is definitely not obligatory.
Normal hours are 8:30 - 5:30 but this is only a guide. You work on 1 job a day and if you finish the job early, you can usually finish early for the day. It's swings and roundabouts - some jobs take longer than others.

You may have done all these checks as an operator and now you want to go out visiting engineering companies rather than be stuck in one company. You will obviously need training on these machines - you will shadow someone to begin with and they will show you the ropes.
The company really looks after their staff and they like people to stay with them - there is loads of training available and the job is very interesting. The company supplies multi-access CNC machines to precision engineering companies within the Aerospace, Defence, Power generation, Motorsport, Oil and gas, Medical, Automotive and many other Precision engineering manufacturers.
The company has an excellent reputation and they supply high spec, quality CNC Machine Tools.
What Sort of Person Are They Looking For?
Engineering experience is essential - a hands-on CNC machinist who has done their own machine maintenance would be great. Someone who is reliable, motivated and good at talking to clients, as you will be representing the company.
Someone who can make checks while keeping to a process. You may be someone who has been a UK Service Engineer who now wants a more regional based role so you get home every night rather than living out of your suitcase - you very rarely have to stay away from home with this job - but if you do on the odd occasion you are compensated.
The company offers 25 days holiday + bank holidays + lots of other perks.
