Our SP Energy Networks business is responsible for the distribution of electricity to your property via our network of pylons, substations, cables and power lines. We serve 3.5 million homes and businesses across Central & Southern Scotland, Cheshire, Merseyside, North Shropshire and North Wales. We work round the clock to make sure you have power.
The Land & Planning Team within Energy Networks provides support to the three Licence Businesses in gaining appropriate land rights and planning consents required to install and maintain the distribution and transmission network to deliver its statutory obligations for the RIIO ED1 and T1 Business Plans.
What you'll be doing
* Provide land rights services, including the effective and timely delivery of Land Rights for distribution projects and day-to-day operational and maintenance activities.
* Proactively manage individual projects to resolve problems in the land rights process that may prevent delivery of capital programmes.
* Provide specialist advice to the project manager regarding the selection of appropriate Land Rights and alternative solutions if difficulties arise.
* Engage and negotiate with landowners to resolve matters satisfactorily.
* Undertake negotiations with landowners/agents to ensure appropriate consents are obtained for capital project delivery.
* Provide advice on alternative solutions that may facilitate obtaining consent for capital programmes.
* Liaise with developers IDNOs/ICPs on land rights for customer connections.
* Prepare land rights documentation and record transactions on internal IT systems.
* Prepare necessary information for legal instruction to secure permanent land rights for distribution assets.
* Undertake accurate 'marching in' reports for the District delivery team.
* Assist in preparation of statutory powers and contribute to drafting written submissions to hearings.
* Comply with Company Health and Safety requirements.
What you'll bring
* Expert knowledge of Electricity Act 1989, Town & Country Planning Act, Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, Property Law, and agricultural practices.
* Expertise in land rights processes and procedures related to project delivery and landowner relations.
* Strong negotiation skills utilizing knowledge of legislation and Company policies.
* Effective communication skills with various stakeholders, including senior management and the public.
* Working knowledge of Distribution Networks and their components.
* Able to make balanced decisions considering all information and outcomes.
* Relevant experience in land surveying or related disciplines.
