We are seeking a Staff Nurse within the Day Surgery Department which will include becoming an independent practitioner that involves working within the ward area and Pre-Operative Assessment. Our Day Surgery Department is held over two sites and the post holder will be expected to work between Orsett and Basildon. The department is primarily nurse-led and nurses are responsible for both the admission and discharge of the surgical patient undergoing day surgery procedures. After appropriate training, the post holder will be able to discharge a surgical patient independently and be able to take helpline calls for post-operative care as required. Also, you will be able to pre-assess for their upcoming surgery and make clinical decisions appropriately.
Main duties of the job
* To ensure that an individual programme of care is planned, implemented and evaluated for each patient within own sphere of responsibility.
* To work as part of a multidisciplinary team ensuring the delivery of a high standard of care to the patients.
* Ensure all patients receive a high standard of care in line with evidence-based practice.
* Ensure adherence to Trust/Local policies, guidelines and other legislation and support National and local initiatives and adhere to NMC Code of Professional conduct at all times.
* Take part in rotation through all areas of the department and across the two sites to meet the needs of the service which currently covers the hours between 7:00 am and 10:00 pm.
