Volunteering is a fantastic way to enhance your CV, meet new people, and learn lifesaving skills.
No one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. St John Ambulance teaches people first aid so they can be the difference between life and death, and you can help us do this.
As a District Youth Officer, you will support the Badger, Cadet, and RISE programmes across the region as well as running events such as camps. You will also support youth unit managers and ensure that programmes are of high quality, comply with SJA standards, and provide a great development experience for young people.
This role is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitations Offenders Act.
There are four vacant District Youth Officer portfolios available in Thames Valley, these include:
1. Badgers (Providing expert support and leading the programme for our young people aged 5-10 years)
2. Youth Enrichment (Pilot programme for young people aged 9-12 years, encompassing adventure, challenges, outdoor activities, and personal development)
3. Youth Leader CPD & Engagement (Boosting inter-Unit collaboration, engaging with Youth Leaders in their Units, identifying training needs, raising awareness of Youth Leader wellbeing, and acting as the conduit between Unit and District)
4. Youth Participation & Social Action (Facilitating Youth Forums, scaffolding social action projects, and promoting youth voice across the District)
Some roles require the post holder to maintain a Day/Residential Warrant (or willingness to undertake the training), Demonstrator qualification (or willingness to undertake the training), or have experience in St John Ambulance programme delivery.
The post holder must be prepared to travel across the Thames Valley District and undertake Unit visits along with supporting at District events.
