Data Scientist
Location: Darlington, Durham (Hybrid)
Salary: £30k - £40k + Excellent Benefits
Working Hours: 35 per week
The Client:
Our client is a renowned supplier of computerised systems for managing dangerous goods in sea transport, supporting global entities in shipping, distribution, warehouses, ports, and regulatory bodies.
The Role:
As Data Scientist, you will analyse large, complex datasets to uncover patterns, trends, and correlations.
Responsibilities:
1. Apply statistical techniques to clean, preprocess, and transform raw data.
2. Conduct exploratory data analysis to reveal insights and extract key features.
3. Develop and deploy advanced machine learning algorithms and statistical models for business solutions.
4. Create predictive models for forecasting metrics, detecting anomalies, and optimising decisions.
5. Refine models to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
7. Partner with data engineers, business analysts, and product managers to identify data needs and align on project goals.
Requirements:
1. Previously worked as a Data Scientist or in a similar role.
2. Knowledge of statistical modelling techniques, machine learning algorithms, and data visualisation tools (e.g., TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Tableau).
3. Skilled in programming languages like Python, R, or Scala, with expertise in data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy).
4. Excellent problem-solving abilities with the capacity to convert business requirements into analytical solutions.
5. Experience with big data technologies and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) would be beneficial.
6. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and knowledge of database systems (SQL, NoSQL) would be preferred.
