Job Summary Options for Care is looking to recruit an exceptional Senior Clinical Psychologist who is passionate about working with individuals with severe and enduring mental health diagnoses. The successful candidate will be based in our new mental health inpatient unit, located in Birmingham. Our two established hospitals have successfully supported the needs of individuals with mental health diagnoses. We also have a our recovery home, which provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals on their journey to mental health recovery.
The unit will be a 23-bed male mental health inpatient unit based in Highgate, Birmingham. This will consist of 19 high dependency beds and four self-contained recovery flats to enable assessment of daily living skills in preparation for discharge.
Overview of main duties
We are seeking a Senior Clinical Psychologist to work with our service users across our inpatient units; providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy, at the same time as offering advice and consultation on service users’ psychological care to the multi-disciplinary team. You will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. In addition, you will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
The assessments and interventions undertaken will be embedded within the framework of:
• MDT principles of working
• The SAFE model (shared assessment, formulation and education)

Job Description
As a Senior Clinical Psychologist, your role will involve developing the psychology service into our new hospital. You will provide specialist psychological assessments to service users referred to the team, formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a service user’s mental health problems. In addition the postholder will provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals, contributing directly to service users’ formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
You will undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual service users, utilising a team approach to the completion of START and associated formulations, and provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management. You will also lead on
reflective practice sessions and develop action plans with the multidisciplinary team to address issues raised.
