Location: Oxford (Hybrid – 1-2 days onsite per week)

Opus have partnered exclusively with a client in Oxford who are looking for a C Developer to join a growing engineering team in Oxford.
This is a hybrid role for someone who thrives in technically challenging environments and wants to make meaningful contributions to an expanding company who built software used all over the globe.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team with the autonomy to take ownership of projects, influence design decisions, and help shape best practices as they scale.
What you’ll be doing:
* Designing, developing, and optimising high-performance C applications
* Working across the full software lifecycle, from concept to deployment
* Driving architectural discussions
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate software with hardware and broader system requirements
* Maintaining clean, maintainable, well-documented codebases
What experience is needed:
* 3+ years’ professional experience with C (preferably in systems, embedded, or Linux environments)
* Strong understanding of low-level memory management, multithreading, and concurrency
* Experience debugging complex systems and working close to the hardware
* Comfortable with version control (e.g., Git), CI/CD practices, and agile workflows
* Proactive communicator who enjoys solving complex technical challenges
* C++ or Python experience
* Familiarity with RTOS, kernel modules, or device driver development
* Experience with performance profiling or static analysis tools
* Exposure to networking protocols, ARM architecture, or FPGA integration
