A unique opportunity exists to provide Electrical Technician support to a fast-paced R&D environment, taking ownership of technician tasks during the build, installation and commissioning of pilot plants, bespoke research engineering equipment and associated electrical infrastructure across the Teesside sites.
Significant investment is now ongoing within the R&D business to expand our capability and transform our operations, focussing on construction of new assets & upgrades to existing assets. This role allows a large degree of autonomy, and provides good opportunities for technical development and growth, fully supported by the wider electrical engineering team.
This role is a Monday-Friday working pattern, however occasional weekends may be required.

Your responsibilities:
1. Support the installation, testing, commissioning & troubleshooting of new pilot plants, bespoke research engineering equipment and associated infrastructure to facilitate delivery of business-critical research and manufacturing programmes. Responsible for ensuring equipment installations meet site and statutory specification.
2. Liaise with project / maintenance engineers and team leaders to coordinate planned works.
3. Plan & prioritise assigned work tasks, to deliver safely within time and budget.
4. Carry out electrical installation work to comply with BS7671 and other relevant standards.
5. Construct electrical panels for R&D assets to bespoke designs.
6. Install and test lighting and small power circuits to / from distribution boards for both industrial and domestic type installations.
7. Carry out electrical erection works such as containment, ladder, tray, unistrut and conduit, and carry out the termination of SWA cables.
8. Support the commissioning of new assets, including RCD testing and trip testing to Johnson Matthey procedures and schedules.
Requirements for the role:
9. Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship as Engineering Technician or similar
10. Experience working in a research and development, pilot plant or laboratory scale operating environments which are subject to change
11. Knowledge, skills, and attitude to resolve discipline specific problems autonomously, while managing own workload when required.

13. Qualified to the current edition of BS7671
14. Strong team player, comfortable interacting with many different stakeholders
