Temporary Laboratory Technician

An opportunity has arisen for a temporary Laboratory Technician to join our team at Tivetshall Maltings.
This is a full-time position for a period of 12 months. It is very much a hands-on role with daily direct involvement with production performance and quality standards.
The laboratory running hours are 6.00am – 11.00pm Monday to Friday and 6.00am - 2.00pm on weekends, averaging 36.875 hours per week on a 4-week rolling pattern. Flexibility will be required to cover the current shift pattern where needed.
Key Tasks:
1. Following Company/Industry recognised methods.
2. Carrying out routine quality control testing of product and raw material.
3. Analysis of malt and cereal products as per SOP training provided.
4. Ensuring high cleaning and housekeeping standards are met and maintaining laboratory equipment.
5. Recording and presentation of results to internal/external customers of the laboratory.
6. Responsible for reporting results and any day-to-day issues/incidents to relevant management regarding health and safety, food and feed safety and improvement ideas within the business in a timely manner.
7. Prioritising workload in order to meet production deadlines.
8. Actively promoting a high level of adherence to quality specifications while maintaining a ‘clean as you go’ policy in all laboratory areas to maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping.
9. Ensuring all instruments used within the laboratory are fit for purpose, calibrated and properly maintained.
10. Setting up and participating in sensory works and carrying out tasting of product, liaising and coaching other departments in line with standard tasting methods.
