Job Title: Mechanical Project Engineer

Role Overview
The Mechanical Project Engineer will join the Project Engineering team, supporting capital project delivery for manufacturing sites. The role focuses primarily on maturation sites, executing projects within the Cooperage. This team’s core mission is to successfully manage and deliver capital expenditure (CapEx) projects. The Project Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end management of these initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Operations, to define project requirements and specifications.
Utilising specialist knowledge to deliver CapEx projects to precise technical standards, while developing cost estimates and schedules.
Managing project budgets, ensuring efficient CapEx spend.
Coordinating and managing external resources to support project delivery.
Overseeing the full project lifecycle, including capital approval, maintaining accurate financial records, and managing project closure.
Leading construction activities and overseeing commissioning processes.
Ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental standards.
Additional Information
The Project Engineer will also:
Benchmark internally and externally to introduce new technical insights that unlock performance improvements, particularly in Cooperage projects.
Build strong partnerships across various supply functions, including technical specialists and project engineering teams.
Utilise technical expertise to drive continuous improvement, solving complex problems through data analysis and collaboration.
Apply knowledge of process safety to support a strong safety culture.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
Project Management (including scope, cost, budget and timescales).
Experience in end-to-end project management is essential.
Complete ownership of project delivery with excellent positive stakeholder engagement and partnership (including project validation)
Health & Safety Management & co-ordination of contractors under CDM 2015 regulations
Ability to communicate effectively and proactively with customers, suppliers and internal teams regarding plans, products, issues, timelines and solution value.
Knowledge of PRA's and HAZOP/LOPA/SIL/SIS processes.
Knowledge and experience with DSEAR and PUWER compliance
Education & Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
NEBOSH or similar H&S qualification.
Prince2 or equivalent project management certification.
