The Royal Alexandra and Albert School exists to give our children a distinctly different start in life, preparing them for the world with hope, optimism, compassion and empathy. We are a ‘Good’ school (Ofsted, April 2024), which is vibrant and purposeful. We are a co-educational, non-selective state boarding school for children aged 7 - 18. This is a boarding school with Flexi Boarding students attending from the local area and a lively community of around 400 Full Boarders, passionately involved in a wide range of after-school and weekend activities and trips.
Our Ofsted inspection of March 2024 states, 'pupils are happy and well cared for at Royal Alexandra and Albert School. They benefit from positive relationships with staff across the school. Pupils feel safe, confident that if they report any concerns or worries they will be dealt with.'
We offer:
* A strong induction programme
* Professional, supportive and committed staff team
* Beautiful estate set in 260 acres of parkland
* Convenient location, close to the A23 and M25

The Role:
We are looking for an exceptional Teacher of Science who can provide highly effective and innovative teaching of Science in the senior school, to ensure that all our students make excellent progress and inspire students to have a passion for the subject. Applications from ECTs are welcomed.
The Science department is one of the largest in the school, with 7 fully equipped laboratories; 2 Science preparatory rooms, staff workroom and faculty office. There is a very good ethos of cooperative and supportive working as part of a team and there is excellent organisation between teaching and support staff.
In Science, students achieve high outcomes at GCSE & A level. At GCSE students achieve results higher than the national average in 9-7, 9-4 and 9-1, with over 80% 9-7 in Separate science and 80% 9-4 in Combined Science. At A level typically students achieve 100% A*-E. In our last Ofsted report, the department was commended on ‘knowing just what they want students to learn and in what order’ with subject teachers ‘explaining subject matter and checking students’ understanding well’.
The school’s approach to GCSE leads to a large uptake in the 6th form. There are classes for Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Environmental Science in both Year 12 and Year 13.
The successful candidate will be:
* Passionate about the teaching of Science
* Enthusiastic about his/her own professional development
