The Role
As a Fibre Optical Systems Engineer you’ll have a role that is out of the ordinary, through your experience of fibre optical systems you will be actively involved in delivering work packages relating to novel laser and optical systems. Training in the exciting and growing technology of High-energy Laser systems will be provided.
Day-to-day you'll be:
1. Planning, developing and deploying optical systems
2. Undertaking technical tasks relating to High-energy Laser development, and test & evaluation
3. Engaging with stakeholders
4. Travelling to trial sites across the UK
5. Providing input into large projects as part of a team of subject matter experts
6. Leading technical projects
This role is full time, 37 hours per week, and based at our Farnborough, Hampshire site. Flexible, adaptive working arrangements are available.
Essential experience of the Fibre Optical Systems Engineer:
7. In depth knowledge of optical fibres and fibre components
8. Practical experience designing, developing and assembling optical fibre systems
9. Robust understanding of laser and optical physics
10. Experience of working with laboratory test and measurement equipment/instrumentation
11. Awareness of laser safety practices
Qualifications for the Fibre Optical Systems Engineer:
12. PhD or equivalent experience in industry in a relevant field
