My clients are a mechanical handling business with a 100-year history of supplying new equipment and aftermarket spares and service. The business is looking for a highly organised and methodical Engineer to re-establish our compliance and standardisation department. The position is a pivotal role to realise our short-term and long-term business strategies.
Objectives of the Role
The initial objective of this role will be to establish and coordinate our ATEX Ex project. Working closely with the Engineering team and Group product compliance manager, you will create and manage a robust project plan to deliver a specific ATEX Certified product and associated documentation by year end. During this process, you will establish and embed standard certification processes and procedures that will be utilised when assessing and certificating our current and future products.
Following this initial project, the longer-term objective will be to re-establish a range of standard parts and documentation that will be utilised by all areas of the business to create efficient fulfilment of sales orders and ultimately reduce parts cost.
Working closely with the Head of Operations and Engineering Manager, you will develop a standards department, identifying improvement opportunities and establishing a joined-up business process for revision control, obsolescence, and superseding of all drawings, ensuring all departments always have clarity of current standards/latest revisions of parts and drawings.
Specific areas of responsibility:
* Compliance and Conformity - To ensure process and product compliance are in place and embedded.
* Standardisation – To define and realign standards and standardisation of all products and parts.
* Company Standards – To manage all engineering associated documented procedures and guidance notes.
* Quality - To control revisions, obsolescence, and superseding of all drawings, ensuring all departments have clarity of current standards/latest revisions at all times.
* Continual Improvement – Align all Engineering NCRs, ECRs and CAPAs and embed into the Standards department.
* Knowledge Centre - To develop the Standards department as the central hub and knowledge centre of all products and engineered parts through clear collaboration and communication throughout the business.
Person Experience
* Experience of working in a mechanical & electrical parts and assemblies' business.
* Experience of and/or understanding of Machinery compliance (ATEX, EMC, LVD, CE) or equivalent.
* Highly organised and methodical approach with the ability to multitask/manage and deliver multiple improvement projects.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and written with the ability to listen, engage and persuade, and to convey conceptual and complex ideas and information.
* Creative, practical problem solver.
* Record of achievement - Proven track record of success in a similar role.

* Use safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for the role.

* Cooperate with management on health and safety matters.
Training and Education:
* Attend and actively participate in all required health and safety training sessions.
* Stay informed about current health and safety regulations relevant to the role.
* Apply knowledge gained from training in daily work activities.
