Perfect RVN Role for someone with strong leadership skills
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head Nurse to join a well-established veterinary team in Bury. This role offers the chance to lead and manage the nursing team, ensuring the highest standards of clinical nursing care and maintaining practice protocols in line with RCVS standards and the Veterinary Surgeons Act.
The Role:
* This full-time, permanent position consists of 40 hours per week, including participation in an OOH rota (1:6 weekends). The Head Nurse will be responsible for:
o Setting and maintaining clinical nursing standards within the practice.
o Providing gold-standard nursing care for sick and injured patients, including monitoring, feeding, grooming, and maintaining accurate records.
o Performing diagnostic tests, including blood sampling, urine analysis, and radiography.
o Preparing animals for surgery and assisting veterinary surgeons during operations.
o Leading and managing the nursing team, including hiring, training, and scheduling rotas.
o Ordering equipment and supplies to ensure the smooth running of clinical areas.
o Handling and restraining animals safely while ensuring the welfare of all patients.
o Managing staff performance, conducting one-to-ones, annual appraisals, and return-to-work interviews.
o Ensuring compliance with RCVS practice standards and maintaining clinical protocols.
o Overseeing student placements and ensuring sufficient training time for student nurses.

* Competitive salary of circa £35,000 per annum - reflective of skills and experience
