Underwriter – Hybrid in Brighton – ARD1050344
We’re on the hunt for a talented Underwriter to join our marine specialism and the growing team in Navigators and General to manage and underwrite complex new business and renewal risks under delegated binding authorities. In this role, you will focus on developing and maintaining a profitable book of business while fostering strong relationships with brokers, insurers and other key partners. Additionally, you will provide valuable support and guidance to wider underwriting team members, ensuring the overall success of the team.

So, what does the role of an Underwriter here involve?
As an Underwriter you will provide a pivotal role in assessing and evaluating risks, managing portfolios, and driving underwriting results. Your responsibilities include:
1. To underwrite and administer risks (including new business, renewals, and mid-term adjustments) and issue accurate compliant documentation on behalf of Insurers within Delegated Underwriting Authority limits, and personal product licensing allowances.
2. To clearly demonstrate proactive, follow up of risks underwritten to maximize investment of time.
3. Collaborate with brokers and clients to gather necessary and accurate information to provide risk evaluation.
4. To achieve personal financial targets and maximize contribution to business targets.
5. To achieve a high quality of underwriting as demonstrated through quality monitoring.
6. Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with all key stakeholders, including brokers, insurers and industry experts.
7. To clearly demonstrate strong trading, sales, and negotiation skills in the attainment of new and renewal business.
8. Provide expert underwriting guidance to support other members of the team.
What experience does an Underwriter need?
9. Cert CII essential.
10. Extensive specialist underwriting knowledge, ability, and experience DIP CII/ ACII preferable.
11. Understanding of the use of binder guidelines and authorities, and underwriting process and standards
12. A working knowledge of legal and regulatory Insurance framework
13. A demonstrably high level of specialist market and specialist product knowledge
14. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate complex date and make informed decisions.
