Would you like to work with new mothers and babies, supporting them, while supporting the maternity team at the Royal free London, to provide World Class Maternity care on Royal Free site, Fetal Medicine Unit
We are looking for Maternity Healthcare Assistants who have reached a good standard of education which include GCSE Maths and English [or equivalent) You will have excellent communication skills, be sensitive to the needs of women going through pregnancy and childbirth and have the ability to work as part of our dynamic team.
In return we provide a range of in-service training in order to develop your skills within the role.
• Maintain a professional behaviour at all times and promote a positive image of Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust at all times, in line with World Class Care values.
• Perform the clinical duties informing the midwife of the results and recording these appropriately on the electronic records system ( Full training will be given on the trust systems )
• Assist in orientating patients and visitors to the ward environment.
• venepuncture training preferred
• Giving information to women and their families regarding their care, directing queries to professional staff as appropriate in a sensitive manner.
• Acting as a chaperone to the midwives/doctors as requested.
• Additional clinical duties may be delegated to the Maternity Assistant as appropriate, following discussion and in-service training.
• Act in accordance with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in England.

• As a member of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will contribute to the delivery of patients’ individual care under the direction and supervision of a registered midwife.
• Perform a full range of manual and clerical duties.
• Supports registered midwives and nurses in the provision of a safe and caring environment.
• To practice in accordance with trust standards and statutory requirements and operate within the boundaries of the role and assessed competencies.
• The Maternity Assistant has the opportunity to develop within the role and undertake further training and development.
• To work as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide a sensitive and caring service to women and their families.
• To ensure good practice and professionalism is demonstrated at all times in leading by example.
This vacancy has been advertised in accordance with the new NHS pay rate which will take effect from autumn 2024. Please note if your employment starts before the 24/25 pay scales are implemented you will be paid under the 23/24 pay scales and any backpay will be adjusted accordingly.
