Job overview
We are looking to recruit Staff Nurses to play a vital role in the patient journey through Theatres and Recovery, ensuring excellent patient care is maintained throughout. You will form part of a friendly, supportive and innovative multidisciplinary team. We have a fantastically supportive Education Team who will ease you into this exciting, challenging and satisfying role.
Main duties of the job
* To work as a skilled member of the nursing team, to provide a high standard of holistic family centered care to the children, young people and families.
* Ability to promote family centered care and establish good relationships with children, young people and their families.
* To communicate effectively at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team.
* To be able to take charge of the ward in the absence of senior nursing staff following achievement of required competence.
* To be familiar with and adopt the principles of the NHS Chief Nursing Officers vision for Compassion in Practice (NHS Commissioning Board Dec 2012).

Person specification
Academic/Professional Qualification/Training
* NMC Registered Nurse (appropriate to clinical speciality) or HCPC Registered Operating Department Practitioner
* Relevant nursing/ODP qualification
* Evidence of ongoing professional development linked to demonstrable competencies
* Assessor or practice supervisor qualification/experience
Experience/Knowledge
* Experience of having worked with acute/chronically sick children or specialised transferable skills
* Understanding of professional and current issues in children’s nursing
* Understanding of the importance of research and evidence-based practice
* Basic knowledge of computer skills
* Understanding of safeguarding issues according to Trust policies and procedures
* Understanding or evidence of fulfilling requirements for Revalidation
* Understanding of principles of clinical governance (e.g. risk management, audit, quality)
* Experience of working as part of a diverse team
* Experience of contributing to an inclusive workplace culture
* Understanding of nursing practice and innovation outside of GOSH
* Knowledge of clinical incidents and complaints and reporting
* Previous experience in the relevant specialty of post (preferably in an NHS setting)
* Knowledge of ward specialties
