Job summary An exciting opportunity for a nurse/ODP to work in our small JAG accredited endoscopy service. The service runs over 7 days per week and part time hours would be considered but occasional weekend work will be included. We are a JAG accredited unit, having just recently completing our 5 year re-accreditation and looking to directly employ an endoscopy nurse/ODP to work within the unit. Main duties of the job To support the Lead Endoscopy Nurse in the effective management of the Endoscopy department To carry out the day-to-day duties of the Endoscopy Unit To provide expertise in the delivery of a safe, high quality patient centred endoscopy service To act with the utmost professionalism and to adhere to the NMC/HCPC code of conduct Monitor and assist in the delivery of patient care Respect the patients' dignity, privacy, wishes and beliefs A hands on role within all areas of the endoscopy service, to include traiging, admission, procedure room and discharge Encourage, develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of others and self Promote best evidence-based practice Apply and ensure others comply with legislation, policies and procedures To accept delegated responsibilities from the team members within your scope of practice About us We are a small, friendly service operating within a dedicated endoscopy unit. The premises are modern, purpose built and well-equipped to provide a high qaulity service service to patients from the local area as well as further afield, working with local NHS Hopsital Trusts. The team consists of a Lead Endoscopy Nurse, a directly employed Registered Nurse and two directly employed healthcare support workers. The wider team includes a Secondary Care Manager and a small administration team. Promote team work and collaboration within the department to improve efficiency and patient outcomes. Ensure accurate documentation of the patient's care and progress is maintained. Adhere to Infection Prevention Control policies and procedures To assist the Endoscopist during endoscopy procedures Ensure the correct preparation and handling of endoscopic equipment To triage patients via telephone to ensure appropriateness of referral within a community setting.
