Our busy and prestigious clients are currently seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Trainee Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to join their team with immediate effect.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in assessing project costs and ensuring that budgets are adhered to across various projects.
Duties
1. Prepare accurate cost estimates for projects based on detailed analysis of project specifications.
2. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to gather necessary information for cost estimation.
3. Conduct thorough research on material, labour, and overhead costs to ensure precise budgeting.
4. Monitor ongoing projects to identify any discrepancies between estimated and actual costs, implementing corrective measures as necessary.
5. Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, including methodologies used and assumptions made.
6. Diary management & administrative support for Project Manager.
7. Project Coordination - Organise, manage and file documents in conjunction with project and corporate naming and numbering procedure for commercial team.
8. Assist the commercial team with preparing samples and chasing approvals, track project timelines, ensure all deadlines are met. E.g. drawings / specifications from customers to assist commercial department.
9. Assisting with producing project-related documentation and work packs ready for site teams.
10. Helping with stores and equipment inventory management.
11. Customer service tasks tracking and updating sales and order progress.
12. Liaise with shopfloor, i.e., sending out packages/materials etc.
The Ideal Candidate:
1. Proven experience as an Estimator or in a similar role within the construction or manufacturing industry (1yr Estimating Experience Min).
2. Strong knowledge of cost control principles and practices.
3. Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
4. Proficient in using estimation software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
5. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated.
6. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey complex information.
7. Strength of character, self-motivated and the ability to work under pressure both independently and as a team.
Desired Attributes:
1. A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
