About the role
The Role:
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Bid Manager to join our Power, Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business.
Role Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to assist the development of tenders from receipt of customer information, development of the proposal and submission deliverables to the client and through to contract award.
Responsibilities:
BB PT&D is looking for a bright and energetic Assistant Bid Manager to co-ordinate all inputs of bid development and produce the bid in the corporate style such that quality, appearance, and time objectives are met. Supporting to Bid Managers to update internal systems, portals and governance. Understand bid content to ensure that all inputs from other contributors are made on time.
We are a friendly team that has had a lot of success in recent years at winning new work for the business.
A background in our sector is desirable but not essential as we will provide training and development for the right candidate. Attitude is far more important to us; we would welcome a candidate who is keen to develop and progress.

What you'll be doing
As an Assistant Bid Manager, you will have the following accountabilities:
* Supporting the development of bid plans and bidding activities in collaboration with the Bid Manager
* Gain an understanding the customer’s objectives and challenges prior to tender and communicate these to the work winning team.
* Supporting governance of the bid process including, budget, programme and approvals via the Gated Business Lifecycle
* Coordinate and manage the delivery of the proposal to time and budget
* Ensure that bids and tenders are produced to meet business requirements and that these are submitted for management approval and to the customer to meet defined time schedules
* Ensure that the bid documentation is produced in the corporate format, using high quality images and that the bid reflects corporate style, quality and standards
* Contribute to the development of content within a bid, ensure that contributions follow business processes and standards such that bid meet business and customer requirements
* Ensure the co-ordination of contributions from a wide range of business functions and individuals from within the business and external, ensure that all contributions are made to exacting time schedules and meet the bid requirements
* Manage the process of bid production and portal uploads
* Ensure your bid team deliver their customer facing objectives
Who we're looking for
Essential qualities / experience:
* Effective coordinator and communicator
* Excellent written English language and literacy skills
* High attention to detail with excellent editing and proofing ability
* Deadline driven with effective time management skills to work in a pressurized environment
* Ability to multi-task and prioritise workload
* Behaviour reflects the Balfour Beatty values
* A person able to work on their own initiative and enable completion of scheduled workload to meet priorities
Qualifications
Desired, but not essential:
* Preferably Degree level or equivalent
* Preferably APMP accredited
Training/experience
* Proven experience of bidding processes and project management processes
* Industry experience desired, but not essential
Skills
* A full driving license is essential
* PC Literate with knowledge of MS applications e.g. Word, Excel, Project
* Able to communicate confidently, clearly and expressively.
* Good writing skills
