An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our unique and friendly team. We are searching for an enthusiastic and flexible Clinical Support Worker on a 37.5-hour fixed term 12-month position. You will need to be proficient in:
* Acute phlebotomy, including group and save and cross matching, blood cultures, therapeutic levels and VBGs.
* Insertion of peripheral intravenous cannula
* Recording and obtaining of 12 lead ECG readings
* Catheterisation of male patients

Main duties of the job
* Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team, supporting Junior Doctors, Phlebotomy department, outpatients, wards, A&E (nights) and departments within a defined range of clinical tasks.
* Work as part of the Hospital at Night accepting any duties as delegated by the Operational Practitioner/Clinical Co-ordinator on the hospital out of hours phone system attending MDT 2100hrs and 0200am.
* Acute phlebotomy, including group and save and cross matching, blood cultures, therapeutic levels and VBGs.
* Insertion of peripheral intravenous cannula.
* Recording and obtaining of 12 lead ECG readings.
* Catheterisation of male patients.
* Part of the medical emergency team out of hours (HOOH).
* Work as part of the Senior clinical Support Worker team, managing the 'clinical support' workload effectively within contracted hours.
* Act as a mentor to Trainee clinical workers and assess junior clinical workers' cannulation skills.

Person Specification
Education /Qualifications
Experience and Knowledge
* 12 months+ experience of working within an acute care setting as a level 2 or 3 health care assistant or a level 3 support worker.
* Practical experience in a similar area to the post advertised, understanding of the hospital at night model or working.
Skills and attributes
* Knowledge and understanding of the needs of the patient in an acute hospital setting, understanding the importance of accurate record keeping.
Skills
* Good written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
