This is an exciting role, which will provide the right person with the opportunity to help grow and develop as part of the Council’s Corporate Fraud Team. Based in the Council’s Internal Audit, Risk and Fraud Service you will use your experience of Counter Fraud to assist in the continuation of a first-class service. You will be responsible for assisting the prevention, detection and investigation of fraud and corruption, to minimise financial losses to the Council and assist in our innovation and collaborative working. Your work will assist in ensuring that Corporate Fraud Team performance is maintained, that Corporate Fraud plans are delivered and provide excellent working relationships to customers both internal and external. WHAT IS INVOLVED? You will assist with the prevention, detection and investigation of corporate fraud and corruption. You will work collaboratively and champion our services that are built around the needs of clients. You will develop and maintain excellent working relationships to support our joint investigations and the successful management of our external contracts. You will assist with the preparation and maintenance of case files to support prosecutions and other actions resulting from investigations. You will assist with interviews, telephone calls and visits regarding potentially fraudulent and irregular activity in accordance with the council’s fraud strategies and appropriate legislation. Once fully trained and you feel confident, you will lead interviews for your own fraud investigations, with the support from a Corporate Fraud Investigator. You will need an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, ideally supported by a relevant professional qualification, or working towards this. You must be competent at managing and prioritising your own workload, with the ability to work under pressure and deal with difficult situations and conflict management. Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and highly organised, you’ll have excellent communication skills and a strong drive for innovation. An understanding of local government fraud risks would be helpful.
