An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 7 Ward Sister/Charge Nurse within Medicine Clinical Board managing Ward E8 at University Hospital Llandough E8 is a medical ward providing care for predominantly elderly general medical patients, who require assessment, evaluation and intervention via an interdisciplinary approach. Many patients come from the Assessment Unit for further investigations, procedures and treatment. E8 MDT team also provides rehabilitation and complex discharge planning for our patients. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse manager who can demonstrate the ability to lead and motivate staff into delivering high quality care to our patients. Integrated Medicine is a busy but very rewarding area to work in, with opportunities to develop knowledge and skills. There will be a truly multi-disciplinary approach to patient care, with the successful candidate working in partnership with the Integrated Discharge Service, Allied Health Professionals and our Local Authority Colleagues to ensure a person-centred experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall care of the patients within the ward, being of high quality whilst ensuring effective planning and implementation of care needs, in line with available resources. The role requires the successful candidate to be able to manage both clinically and managerially and demonstrate an ability to work well amongst an MDT. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring the ward team provide safe and effective care to our patients. The successful candidate will also be expected to work with the senior and lead nurse team. This post requires a motivated, dynamic and innovative leader. As a Ward Sister/Charge Nurse you will be leading and supporting your team through challenging times. They will need to have a passion for excellence and be a role model to the existing team ensuring the UHB Values and Behaviours are embedded. They must be flexible, approachable, compassionate and able to manage their time effectively. The candidate should have a proven history of providing supervision to nursing staff. The successful candidate will receive support in their new role; this will be provided by the lead and senior nurses.
