Our client is a multi-disciplinary construction management firm looking for a Fire Risk Assessor to join their team. Role can be based in any of their offices - London / Birmingham / Bristol / Cambridge / Cheltenham / Leeds / Liverpool / Manchester / Newcastle / Oxford / Reading / Winchester.
We can only consider experienced Fire Risk Assessors who are registered with the IFE as a Fire Risk Assessor.
As a Fire Risk Assessor, you will be responsible for conducting site-based fire risk assessments within a variety of sectors, including industrial, commercial, and residential within a specified timescale, using bespoke technology to collect data via a tablet.
This opportunity would suit an experienced Fire Risk Assessor who has been carrying out work either on a consultancy or an in-house basis, who is willing to travel regularly, or an ex-fire and rescue service inspecting officer with extensive experience in auditing premises under the Fire Safety Order and who has relevant qualifications and accreditation.
What you need to do to be effective in this role:
1. Undertake regular communication with our Client's team to coordinate programmes of inspections and remedial works.
2. Ensure buildings conform to the latest fire-related building regulations and technical standards.
3. Take particulars on site, write up schedules of works required, prepare specifications, obtain estimates, plan programmes of work, monitor progress of works on site, and check compliance with the specification.
4. Provide a practical and methodical approach to solving problems, working to fixed budgets and within tight deadlines.
5. Provide advice in connection with applications for Building Regulations Approval on Fire Related matters.
6. Authorise and sign off Fire Risk Assessments before submission to clients.
7. Conduct annual internal audits on Fire Risk Assessors.
The skills and experience you need to have for this role:
1. Demonstrable experience gained in a similar role.
2. Minimum Level 4 qualification in fire risk management, or a Level 5 qualification in fire risk assessment or fire engineering.
3. IFE-approved fire risk assessment course completion.
4. Registered on the national register of Fire Risk Assessors - IFE.
5. Experience as a Validator under the BAFE SP205-1 Scheme.
6. Driving licence required.
7. Experience of carrying out fire risk assessments in a range of premises.
