Role: Residential Support Worker (Shift Leader)
Salary: Up to £28,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.

Contract/Hours: Permanent Full Time 37 hours a week. (Shift pattern)

A bit about the role:
Our Residential Support Workers create a safe and supportive environment for children and young people to grow and develop. You will ensure their wellbeing is prioritised by delivering personalised care, guidance and advocacy. It is key that they stay safe and healthy and can reach their full potential.

About the Service:
Our Place is a 3-bed permanent residential home for children and young people aged between 8 - 18 who have various learning disabilities. Action for Children strive to create a homely and supportive environment where the children can thrive and develop by us supporting them with household tasks and all aspects of their care.
Here at Our Place, we focus on making sure the children's voices are always heard and pride ourselves on providing a collaborative and caring service. We work hard to ensure the children in our care are experiencing a safe and happy childhood in a friendly, warm, and inclusive environment.
This role will be working 37 hours a week, with a 2-week rolling rota drawn up in advance with every 2nd weekend off. Shifts are 7.30-20.00, 9.30-21.30 and sleep ins are 10.00 till 10.30 the next day.
About the Role:
We are now looking for a Residential Worker who will help our team continue to ensure the best possible environment. We are looking for someone who has a compassionate and positive attitude, is adaptable to changing situations and has excellent communication skills. If you have experience in a similar setting with disabled children and young people, this would be advantageous. As this is a senior position you will be a shift leader who oversees the activities whilst on shift. You will receive training and supervision to support your personal development.
As a Residential Worker you'll be:
* Undertaking the role of shift leading by supporting your colleagues to provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment for children and young people and contribute to the day to day running of the home and ensure the home remains compliant at all times.
* Taking a lead with case / care planning management for individual children or young people, undertaking assessment of need, developing a care plan, identifying agreed outcomes
* Leading and working on shifts with accountability for service delivery, assessing and managing risks, deploying staff and resources accordingly while on shift
* Supporting children and young people in all aspects of their care personal care, administration of medication and clinical procedures.
* Link working with young people (managing paperwork and files), whilst taking a lead role in organising activities.
* Knowledgeable and responsible for the safeguarding of young people and an advocate for the wellbeing of the young people.
* Taking responsibility for inductions, supervisions and appraisals for team members
All About You:
Our job description for the Residential Worker outlines the requirements of the role but the 'must-haves' are:
* A minimum of Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care or equivalent such as level 3 Health and Social Care Children and Young People's pathway.
* Previous experience in residential care is desirable but not essential.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Previous experience in leading shifts and supervising staff.
* Sound knowledge and understanding of safeguarding.
* A real compassionate and positive attitude is a MUST.
* A positive approach, providing a fun environment for all the children in our care.
