The Opportunity?
Thurston Community College has an exciting opportunity for a Behaviour Manager to join our new Inclusion team.
As our Behaviour Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our students have a positive learning experience by working closely with those who present challenging behaviours and creating an environment where students feel safe and ready to learn.
As our Behaviour Manager you will:
* Supervise students in the reflection room as they complete their work
* Engage students in self-reflection work, helping them to understand their triggers and make positive choices
* Contribute to behaviour management within the College to ensure rules are upheld in the Reflection Room
* Complete relevant paperwork, identifying students who work well and those who underachieve
We are looking for individuals who:
* Have experience in working with young people
* Are committed to safeguarding children
* Have GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or the new Grade 4
* Have good communication skills
You will need to have a ‘can do’ attitude and a desire to support our students to be the best they can be by applying Restorative Practice Principles.
Training and professional development will be available for the right person.
Who are we?
Thurston Community College is a large popular mixed comprehensive school. It comprises two distinct and specialist sites. Our Thurston Campus, for students from Year 7 to Year 11, is situated four miles east of Bury St Edmunds. Thurston Sixth; Beyton Campus is located in the nearby village of Beyton, offering a bespoke centre of excellence for students in Year 12 and Year 13.
It was recently announced that the school will be part of the School Rebuild Programme. Due to our growing numbers, we currently already have a building project underway which will house three new science classrooms due for completion in August 2023.
