Job Title: SAS Architect Location: Manchester (Hybrid) Salary/Rate: £478 Per Day Start Date: 17/02/25 Job Type: 6-12 Month Inside IR35 Contract Company Introduction We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading consultancy clients They are currently looking for an experienced SAS Architect to join our team to help lead the upgrade and re-platforming of the SAS environment as part of the Bank's transition to the SAS Viya hosted managed service. Job Responsibilities/Objectives You will be responsible for upgrading and re-platforming, as well as designing solutions that integrate seamlessly with SAS Viya. The SAS Architect will work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient integration and transition to the new platform. End-to-End System Architecture: Develop and design the architecture for the Bank's side of the SAS upgrade/re-platforming, ensuring seamless integration with the new SAS Viya hosted managed service. Collaboration with SAS: Work closely with the SAS team to define and implement the necessary system design and architecture for the Bank's SAS platform transition. Solution Design & Integration: Provide architectural solutions that integrate various systems, ensuring that the SAS environment can efficiently handle data and analytics workloads. Technical Leadership: Offer technical leadership throughout the upgrade process, from initial design through to final deployment, ensuring best practices are followed. Performance Optimisation: Identify and implement strategies for optimising SAS performance, ensuring the system can handle the Bank's data and analytical needs. Risk Management: Ensure that potential risks in the architecture or deployment process are identified early and managed appropriately. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for the architecture, design decisions, and processes involved in the upgrade/re-platforming. Stakeholder Engagement: Regularly engage with internal stakeholders, including project managers, analysts, and other technical teams, to ensure alignment and clear communication throughout the project. Required Skills/Experience The ideal candidate will have the following: SAS Architecture Experience: Proven experience in designing and implementing SAS systems, particularly in an upgrade or re-platforming context. SAS Viya: Experience working with SAS Viya or similar cloud-hosted solutions, including knowledge of deployment and integration into enterprise environments. Cloud Technologies: Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or others for hosting and managing SAS services. System Design & Integration: Experience designing end-to-end system architectures, with a focus on integrating SAS systems into existing environments. Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. Performance Tuning & Optimisation: Knowledge of SAS performance tuning techniques and best practices for large-scale data environments. Desirable Skills/Experience Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client: Banking/Financial Services Experience: Experience in the banking or financial services sector is highly desirable, with a good understanding of related regulatory and compliance requirements. Data Integration: Experience in data integration techniques, ETL processes, and working with large, complex datasets. Security and Compliance: Understanding of data security standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, PCI DSS) and experience ensuring system architecture complies with these standards.
