Job summary This post will be an appointment by plastic surgery services. It will help with communication and support of breast reconstruction patients. The nurse will be based in breast screening department with the breast care nurses, but will liaise closely with the plastic specialist nurses for clinical activites such as dressings and seroma drainage. The post holder, after a period of training with the breast reconstruction surgeons, will counsel patients prior to breast reconstruction surgery explaining breast reconstruction options They will be the key contact throughout the patient's reconstructive journey, visiting patients on the ward pre and post operatively and assisting in training of ward staff in postop care. Following discharge the post holder will be a point of contact for patients for telephone advice and outpatient follow up. Initially this will be a Monday to Friday post with the scope to progress to a seven day service in the future. This exciting opportunity affords scope for professional development.
