Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support for Child with Autism)

Teaching Personnel are recruiting on behalf of a friendly and inclusive primary school located in the heart of Thornton, dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for all pupils. The Role
We are seeking a compassionate and patient SEN Teaching Assistant to join the schools KS1 team. The successful TA will provide 1:1 support to a Key Stage 1 (KS1) pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role is vital in helping the child access the curriculum and develop essential life skills in a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored support to a child with autism, focusing on their individual needs and learning style.
* Assist with the implementation of the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and work closely with the class teacher and SENCO.
* Support the child in developing social skills, communication, and emotional regulation.
* Implement and adapt strategies to help the child access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
* Foster a positive and inclusive environment, encouraging the child’s independence and confidence.
* Monitor and record the child’s progress, reporting regularly to the class teacher and SENCO.
* Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a consistent approach to the child's development.
Requirements
* Previous experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs is highly desirable.
* A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach to supporting children with SEN.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* A positive and proactive attitude, with a commitment to inclusive education.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are an advantage but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
