A Vacancy at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Fancy a change? Interested in diversifying your skills to boost your CV? Oxfordshire Targeted Lung Health Check is a new OUH provided service. Nurse-led and community based it is an ideal opportunity to join a friendly and innovative team keen to support training and development.
Targeted Lung Health Check services save lives and improve the health of our local populations through early identification of cancer and promoting smoking cessation. The Care Navigator makes the initial phone contact with eligible asymptomatic participants between the ages of 55 to 74 with a smoking history. During this call the Care Navigator will utilise specialist software to assess the participant’s risk of lung cancer. If eligible, they will then attend our mobile CT unit for a more detailed lung health check with one of our nurses. Your role will be to support participants to start their Lung Health check journey.
The primary purpose of the Total Lung Health Check Programme is to enable the early detection of lung cancer to save lives.
You will be part of a small team undertaking a varied role dependant on service needs. Key aspects of the role are administration and performing telephone risk assessments. We aim to contact about 120 people every day. Training will be provided but it is important that you feel comfortable acquiring new IT skills. You will initially be based at OUH Cowley (Unipart House) but once trained there will be opportunities for more flexible hybrid working if preferred. We hope to expand the TLHC service to provide smoking cessation support to participants and this role will be crucial to the delivery of this.
