Description
As a Environment Artist focused on User Generated Content (UGC), you will play a pivotal role in creating visually stunning and high-quality arcs, environments, and open world encounters. Your work will involve a mix of artistic flair and technical skill, leveraging player-facing creation tools to craft immersive and memorable game worlds. A portfolio demonstrating your expertise in environmental art and level composition is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities
* Environment Creation: Design and build high-quality game environments, from concept to polished visuals, while ensuring they align with the artistic and gameplay vision.
* Collaboration: Partner with content designers, programmers, and other artists to seamlessly integrate visual storytelling with gameplay functionality.
* Iteration: Apply feedback from leads and directors to refine and optimize level art, balancing aesthetic quality with performance considerations.
* Tool Utilization: Leverage player-facing creation tools and game engines to craft environments that empower and inspire user creativity.
* Trend Analysis: Stay informed about industry trends, tools, and techniques to elevate the visual quality and player experience of UGC content.
* Problem Solving: Address technical challenges related to environment art, ensuring that all levels run smoothly and meet performance benchmarks.
Requirements
* Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing your ability to create engaging and visually striking environments, preferably including examples developed in game engines or through UGC tools.
* Artistic Skills: Proficiency in environment art principles, including composition, lighting, and color theory.
* Game Engine and Modelling Experience: Familiarity with Unreal Engine 5 and modelling software such as 3DS Max, Maya, and Blender.
* Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of texturing, shading, and optimizing assets for performance. Familiarity with scripting or blueprint systems is advantageous.
* Adaptability: Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams and adjusting to evolving creative directions.
* Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate and discuss artistic and technical concepts.
* Industry Experience: Prior games industry experience is highly valued but not mandatory with an exceptional portfolio and demonstrable skills.
Bonus Skills
* Experience with procedural asset creation tools (e.g., Substance Designer, Houdini).
* Familiarity with player-facing creation tools or modding communities.
* Passion for empowering players through UGC tools and content.
