Job summary
A great opportunity has arisen to appoint a full-time band 7 Senior Forensic Social Worker to complement our existing team at Ravenswood Secure Forensic Hospital, Mayles Lane, Fareham PO17 5NA. The Senior Forensic Social Worker will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team and bring the social care perspective to both individualised care planning and service development.
Ravenswood House is a medium and low secure forensic hospital providing assessment, care and treatment for adults with serious mental illness and/or personality disorder. Forensic patients routinely have complex needs associated with either a severe and enduring mental illness, personality disorder, Intellectual learning disability and/or Autistic Spectrum, and also present a risk of offending or have challenging behavioural needs, which may be associated with significant risk. We admit patients from high secure hospitals, local acute mental health hospitals, prisons, custody, and the courts.

Main duties, tasks & skills required
The key purpose of Forensic Social Work is to support in balance the protection of the public and the promotion of the quality of life of service users by working in partnership with others to identify, assess and manage risk and contribute to care planning and risk management strategies.
The Senior Forensic Social Worker will provide a social care service to service users and their families to comply with Standards for Secure Services, Service Level Agreements and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Policy and Procedures.
The role requires someone who can work independently, is pro-active, and who has good experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required for this role.

Qualifications
Essential
Degree in Social Work or DipSW or CQSW.
* Current Social Work England registration.
* Post-qualifying training (formally or work based) in relevant areas of social work and/or mental health, learning disability or forensics.
Evidence of significant continuing professional and personal development.
Hold or a willingness to obtain Practice Educator Qualification 1 & 2 (PEPS).
