Sanctuary Personnel is currently seeking aSenior Educational Psychologist to join our client's dynamic team.
Job Purpose:
To provide a psychological service to children, young people, parents, carers, and schools in the area, delivering the statutory duties of the Local Authority. This includes offering a consultation service to teachers and staff in academies, mainstream and special schools to remove barriers to achievement for vulnerable children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:
* Serve as a senior member of a team providing educational psychology services.
* Deliver specialist advice and guidance, including the direct management of main grade and trainee Educational Psychologists as required.
* Lead the development of assessment and intervention work, providing advice to partners in line with statutory duties.
* Contribute to the development of learning support strategies and supervise practice in this area.

Service Accountabilities:
* Ensure effective service delivery to schools, including meeting performance indicators.
* Complete psychological advice in line with statutory assessment procedures.
* Provide advice on individual pupils and support policy development within specialist provisions.
* Attend annual reviews and monitor pupil progress in line with the SEN Code of Practice.
* Respond to pre-school notifications and follow up as per performance indicators.
* Deliver services for vulnerable pupils, including those out of school or with special educational needs.
Key Activities:
* Act as an integral member of the Educational Psychology (EP) team, providing services to schools and other clusters.
* Offer consultation services to teachers and staff in various educational settings.
* Provide advice on initiating Education, Health, and Care needs assessments.
* Support pupils through psychological interventions and monitor their progress.
* Assist parents and carers in understanding and participating in the assessment process.
* Respond to pre-school notifications from the Health Authority.
* Visit and review pupils placed in schools outside the Borough.
* Support pre-school settings in identifying and supporting vulnerable children.
* Help develop and implement strategies for the inclusion and achievement of vulnerable pupils.
Specialist Activities:
* Serve in a senior specialist role ensuring compliance with statutory duties and Health Professionals Council codes.
* Support operational delivery and practice compliance with national frameworks.
* Liaise with SEN services and develop capacity within schools to meet the needs of children at SEN Support.
* Promote evidence-based practice and targeted interventions through training.
* Contribute to school improvement and inclusion strategies.
* Attend Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Tribunal hearings as required.
* Provide guidance and training to Educational Psychologists working with complex needs.
Skills and Abilities – Essential:
* Ability to supervise qualified Educational Psychologists.
* Strong problem-solving, assessment, and evaluation skills.
* Excellent report writing skills.
* Competent use of IT as a work tool.
* At least 2 years of experience as a practising Educational Psychologist.
Skills and Abilities – Desirable:
* Ability to use therapeutic interventions or specialist approaches.
* Experience with IT database systems.
* Ability to support staff training in special educational needs, vulnerable pupils, and looked-after children.
* Ability to support trainee educational psychologists.
Special Knowledge – Essential:
* Knowledge of the SEN code of Practice.
* Understanding a wide range of assessment and intervention procedures for children of various ages.
* Awareness of the specific needs of vulnerable pupils and relevant models and approaches.
Special Knowledge – Desirable:
* Knowledge of specialist psychological interventions.
* Awareness of intervention strategies for vulnerable pupils.
* Understanding of approaches for children with social emotional needs and attachment difficulties.
* Knowledge of alternate methods of communication.
Experience – Essential:
* Experience working in an Educational Psychology Service.
* Provision of statutory psychological advice across various needs.
* Familiarity with processes related to SEND case panels.
Experience – Desirable:
* Experience delivering specialist services for specific special educational needs.
Other Requirements – Essential:

* Relevant degrees and professional registrations (BPS, HCPC).
