Description A typical day in the life of a Fluke Norwich Manufacturing Engineer (ME) always starts with a Daily Management Team meeting to discuss what happened yesterday and what’s planned for today. Who needs help in what area, and what does the team need to do today to be successful? Success revolves around supporting the Production Team in solving day-to-day issues to ensure continuous manufacturing. These issues include an automated line-down system capturing machine breakdowns that need to be fixed, component evaluations covering VAVE projects and obsolescence issues, productivity enhancements, and continuous improvement projects with Kaizen activities to aid Roll Through Yield (RTY). RTY is the ME's primary KPI. It is reported to Senior Leadership at the end of each month, along with countermeasures accompanying the monthly report. The assigned ME product owner is required to conduct a 5Y analysis, addressing the gap to target and solve the reason for the miss. ME projects to improve RTY and Productivity whilst reducing waste run in parallel, ranging from simple assembly enhancements to full automation solutions. In this role, you will own, maintain, and improve the manufacturability of new and existing products through the design, development, troubleshooting, upgrading, and documentation of manufacturing processes. Exploring new technologies and manufacturing methods to improve efficiency and productivity. In summary: Provide day-to-day engineering support and expertise in production for released products. Evaluate new and existing production lines to identify improvements to the manufacturing process, analytical requirements, and equipment; advise appropriate engineering personnel on manufacturability, process robustness, and equipment requirements. Ensure the smooth transition of new products into manufacturing. Coordinate the activities of personnel involved in engineering investigations and new product pilot runs. Conduct tests and measurements throughout stages of process or analytical procedure development to determine process control and identify improvements; evaluate findings and coordinate with appropriate personnel to ensure adherence to specifications and execute improvements. Maintain active and continuous contact (not restricted to formal meetings) with Engineering and Production. Requirements: Education: Bachelor of Science in Electronics / Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electronic Engineering. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in production engineering or a similar environment. Knowledge of electronic engineering principles, practices, and techniques commonly employed in the design and production of electronic products. Excellent engineering & root cause analysis problem-solving skills Ability to communicate engineering concepts to non-engineers. Organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Advantageous: An understanding or LabView / Test Stand or similar S/W packages would be an advantage. An understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen practices.
