We are looking for a Talented Grill Chef to join our team at Poor Boys. Assisting the Head Chef and Sous Chef, our Grill Chef will be enthusiastic, passionate, and knowledgeable about delicious, fresh food and great service. Our Kitchen is a fast-paced environment, where our Grill Chef will need to drive a high standard of execution and be committed to delivering consistent, beautifully presented dishes. As a Grill Chef, you will be at the heart of the kitchen, responsible for preparing high-quality grilled dishes. You will work in a high-energy, fast-paced environment and play a crucial role in ensuring our customers receive consistently delicious, timely, and visually appealing meals. Key Responsibilities: Operations: Prepare and cook grilled dishes to order, including beef brisket, beef short rib, chicken, and shellfish - adhering to restaurant recipes and specifications. ensure all grilled items are prepared accurately, with the right levels of seasoning, texture, and presentation. Control and monitor grill temperature, cooking times, and ensure consistency across all dishes. Food Preparation: Prepare meats, marinades, and sauces for grilling, and maintain stock levels throughout service. Manage food preparation and cooking stations, ensuring ingredients are fresh, portioned, and available for service. Hygiene and Safety Compliance: Maintain Food Hygiene Level 2 standards, following strict food safety and health guidelines. Ensure all workstations, equipment, and food storage areas are clean, organised, and compliant with UK food safety regulations. Conduct regular temperature checks for food and grill equipment, completing any necessary record-keeping as required by UK Food Hygiene standards. Team Collaboration: Work effectively within the kitchen team, communication with Line Cooks, Sous Chefs, and Front-of-House staff to ensure timely and accurate order fulfilment. Assist with other kitchen duties when required, such as food prep, plating, and expediting during busy periods. Quality Control: Monitor the quality of ingredients and food items, reporting nay issues to management to ensure only the best quality is served to customers. Keep up-to-date with restaurant menu changes and provide input on any menu items that could benefit from a grilling focus. Qualifications: Food Hygiene Level 2 Certification (essential) Proven experience in a similar grill chef role, ideally in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen. Strong understanding of grill techniques, temperature control, and meat preparation. Ability to remain calm and organised under pressure and during high-service periods. Good communication skills and teamwork abilities.
