Overview
My client, a manufacturing business, is seeking a skilled Manual Turner to join their team in South Glasgow Factory. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of mechanical principles and have experience in operating manual lathes and other machining equipment. This role is essential for producing high-quality components, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications.
Responsibilities
1. Operate manual lathes and milling machines to fabricate components as per engineering drawings.
2. Perform quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet required specifications.
3. Conduct routine maintenance on machinery and tools to ensure optimal performance.
4. Handle materials safely and efficiently within the warehouse environment.
5. Collaborate with team members to improve production processes and resolve any issues that arise during manufacturing.
6. Understand and apply knowledge of tooling requirements for various machining tasks.
7. Utilise SolidWorks or similar software for interpreting technical drawings when necessary.
Requirements
1. Proven experience in a similar role, with strong mechanical knowledge and skills in manual turning.
2. Familiarity with welding techniques is advantageous but not essential.
3. Basic maths skills are required for accurate measurements and calculations.
4. Experience with materials handling and warehouse operations is preferred.
5. Knowledge of logic controllers would be beneficial for troubleshooting machinery issues.
6. Ability to work effectively within a team while also demonstrating initiative in individual tasks.
7. Strong attention to detail, ensuring high standards of workmanship are maintained throughout the production process.
