Band 7 Occupational Therapist – Bristol Haematology and Oncology Team
Part time 22.5 hours per week (0.6 WTE), Fixed-term (until start of Nov 2025)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Bristol Haematology and Oncology In-patient Therapy Team at UHBW. You will work at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre to provide a six-day-a-week service to our patients.
We are looking for an innovative, inclusive leader who is passionate about delivering a service that is patient-centred and ensures patients receive the right care at the right time in the right place.
The post holder will work closely with the Oncology and Haematology Pathway lead, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Band 7s to provide a high-quality patient-centred service to patients and jointly manage a team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Therapy Technicians.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who has advanced skills, can treat and manage complex cancer patients in an in-patient environment, and who is confident to challenge current practice and ensure that our patients receive up-to-date evidence-based treatments.
You will be naturally empathetic, demonstrating good communication skills to facilitate close working relationships with both service users and staff.
You will need to be creative and flexible to meet the changing needs of the caseload and service.
You will demonstrate leadership qualities and take an active interest in the teaching and development of others. The role will also include profession-specific supervision to the Occupational Therapist working in the Oncology Outpatient Team.
You will manage your own caseload, alongside overseeing the workload of the other team members.
There will be a commitment to 1:4 weekend working + 2 bank holidays throughout a year. There will be an expectation for this post to cover Mondays to provide OT cover across the week.
For further information or an informal chat please contact Hanni Easton (Therapy Pathway Lead for Oncology & Haematology) on 07392 194521.
