Postdoctoral Research Associate: The Department of Political Economy at King’s College London is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the Advocacy in Digital Democracy (ADVODID) project. This project, funded by the European Research Council Consolidator Grant, aims to investigate the effects of advocacy on citizens and policymakers in online and offline settings across eight countries. The successful candidate will contribute to the project’s three work packages, engage in experimental and/or quasi-experimental research, and play a crucial role in managing research assistants and disseminating project findings.

Location: Strand Campus, King’s College London
* PhD awarded or near completion in Political Science, Communication Science, Data Science, Economics, Sociology, or a closely related discipline.
* Demonstrated capacity for producing excellent research published, or capable of being published, with leading academic journals and presses.
* Solid expertise in research methods, including experience with coding and data management in statistical programming languages (e.g., Stata, R, and/or Python).
* Desirable: A good grasp of relevant academic literature, experience with quasi-experimental and experimental research designs, and the ability to conduct interviews in multiple languages spoken in the study countries.
Job Description: The successful applicant will:
* Undertake research on the three work packages of the ADVODID project, including developing experimental or quasi-experimental research designs.
* Collect data through surveys, APIs, web-scraping, and/or personal interviews in the political representation, advocacy, and social media context.
* Clean, manage, and analyze quantitative data.
* Co-author research outputs from the project.
* Manage research assistants and organize events to disseminate project findings.
* Present research outputs from the project.
* Single-authored article-length writing sample
Last Date for Apply: March 6, 2024
* The post is a full-time position on the ERC project – 100% full-time equivalent.
* Fixed-term contract from 1st September 2024 for one year, with a potential extension for up to 3 years.

Please note that candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting the award of their PhDs will be considered. In these circumstances, the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30, with the title of Research Assistant, and upon confirmation of the PhD award, the job title will become Research Associate with an increase in salary to Grade 6.
