Description Councillor Support Manager Contract Type: Permanent Working Hours: 37 per week Worker Type: Hybrid Worker Grade: H Salary: Starting Salary is £38,223 (Level one) rising to £41,418 (Level four) ‘pro rata for part-time’ Location: Loxley House The Executive and Majority Support Team works with the Leader of the Council, Executive Lead Councillors and the majority group of 49 Labour Councillors. As a small team of officers, we provide vital day-to-day support for the political leadership of the council - offering advice, briefings, horizon scanning, logistical support and communications. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team. The Councillor Support Manager reports in to the Executive Officer to the Leader and is part of the wider Chief Executive's Directorate. The role is responsible for a variety of duties including supporting the political and officer Leadership with forward planning and providing relevant and timely briefings and advice on communications and policy issues. The role provides logistical support for the Executive, Civics and the wider majority group of councillors as well as support and planning with event management relevant to the Leadership, Executive and Civics. The ideal candidate will have: Experience of overseeing a wide range of administrative duties in a busy environment Ability to advise and support councillors and managers on administrative and operational issues Experience of and ability to make decisions and use initiative when interacting with citizens, councillors and senior colleagues with complex situations or behaviours Awareness of the sensitivities of working with Councillors and the ability to work with tact and diplomacy in a confidential and politically sensitive environment Good technical skills for the planned and efficient provision, installation, maintenance of all IT equipment, software and services. Well-developed team working skills demonstrating flexibility and creativity and able to support a team effectively within a highly-pressurised environment, where priorities and deadlines are subject to change Experience of presenting information in briefings and ability to communicate effectively in both formal and informal meetings This post is politically restricted.
