Purpose
YOU MUST HAVE PERMANENT RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK
We are looking for a talented and experienced IT professional with a background in DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to join our tech team based out of Leeds, UK. The ideal candidate will have experience implementing and maintaining cloud native AWS services in an agile environment using best practice CI/CD processes and platforms.
Due to the team size, this role will suit a self-starter who doesn’t mind often working on their own to meet challenging deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive the strategy and implementation for DevOps and SRE practices.
* Observability, Logging, Monitoring, and Alerting for key systems. Using AWS CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail, and AWS X-Ray,
* Recommend and implement cloud native solutions with a preference towards serverless solutions.
* Automated provisioning of AWS services using Terraform, AWS, and GitHub Actions.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement CI/CD pipelines, ensuring efficient and reliable software delivery.
* Versioning and testing of IaC templates.
* Ensure service availability against SLA’s.
* Maintain strong expertise and knowledge of current and emerging processes, techniques and tools. With the ability to demonstrate the value of these to our operations and infrastructure.
* Investigate and resolve problems in a timely manner.
* Work closely with development teams to ensure that solutions are designed with customer user experience, scale/performance/availability, and operability in mind.
* Implement best practice incident response and disaster recovery procedures to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
* Work as part of the security team playing a key role in vulnerability identification, testing and remediation
* Monitoring and maintaining the auditing of core system components.
* Working closely with the Head of Engineering to maintain PCI certification.
* The occasional on-call support for key clients.
Key Performance Indicators
* Maintaining and ensuring SLA’s are met for availability and performance.
* Implementing and ensuring SLA’s for DORA metrics.
Skills & Experience
(Essential)
* You must have permanent right to work in the UK
* Strong understanding of core Amazon services, including EKS, EC2, Load Balancing, IAM, VPC, and RDS.
* Strong understanding of DNS configuration, ideally using Cloudflare.
* Strong understanding of RDS configuration, replication, and backup methodologies.
* Hands-on experience of working with containerized services – Docker, Kubernetes and Helm Charts.
* Extensive experience implementing and troubleshooting EKS deployments.
* Ability to investigate application and infrastructure issues utilising AWS CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail, AWS X-Ray, and Cloudflare monitoring.
* Hands-on experience working with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
* Hands-on experience building and maintaining IaC using Terraform.
* Experience working closely with software developers in an agile DevOps environment.
* AWS Cloud Practitioner certification.
(Desirable)
* Working with AWS in a serverless context (e.g. use of AWS Lambda, EventBridge, APIGateway and DynamoDB)
* Working experience of security best practices, including Web Application Firewalls, Vulnerability Scanning, PCI DSS, and DevSecOps.
* A good understanding of the AWS Well-Architected Framework
* Ability to present confidently in external group and client settings
* AWS Solution Architect certification
* Knowledge of microservice-based architectures
