Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform holistic, forensic clinical assessments for children, young people, and adults who experienced sexual assault, with a meticulous eye for detail.
2. Interact sensitively, ensuring a trauma-informed approach to care supporting self-referrals along with police referrals.
3. Uphold the highest standards of data integrity and confidentiality in documentation and evidence handling.
4. Co-produce individual management plans tailored to the needs of each client.
5. Provide testimony in court, contributing to the integrity of legal proceedings.
6. Engage in ongoing training and professional development as part of our Novice to Expert programme.
7. Lead initiatives, mentor peers, and engage in programmes designed to enhance professional skills and service delivery, including our partners.

Join Our Team: Sexual Offence Nurse Examiner
Location: Aberystwyth Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), Canolfan Rheidol, Aberystwyth, SY23 3GJ
The Aberystwyth SARC will be a new state of the art healthcare facility which is currently under development. Co-funded by Police, NHS Wales and Hywel Dda University Local Health Board. Your role will be key to the development of this important service.
Interim SARC location is at Bow Street, Aberystwyth until early 2025.
Salary: £42,000 - £45,000 starting salary dependent on experience.
Working pattern: Full-time is a 36-hour work week.
This role will initially be provided Monday to Friday during daytime hours to support your training and the service development needs. You will then move to a more flexible rota providing 3 x 12 hour shifts per week, covering 7 days per week as part of a wider team that are already in place.
Part-time will be considered alongside consideration of a portfolio career across our services, such as Investigations, Clinical Reviews, Expert Witnesses, and other skilled services.

About the Role:
As a Sexual Offence Nurse Examiner, you will play a critical role in our multidisciplinary team, providing assessments and evidence that inform legal will be based from home whilst on shift, responding and attending the SARC according to demand.
Travel will be required to facilitate your initial training and shadowing. Then on occasions going forward.

Ideal Candidate:
37. Registered Nurses with experience or an interest in forensic and legal medicine and a minimum of 3 years post qualification.
38. Committed to undertaking a comprehensive competency framework.
39. Must have or be willing to work towards master's level study, complete educational courses and work towards being able to provide testimony to court.

47. Court experience: experience in providing written or oral evidence for court
48. Examination proficiency: skilled in conducting detailed forensic examinations and collecting evidence in compliance with the Forensic Science Regulators guidelines
