We are looking to recruit a Telecommunication Operative, to join the Switchboard team at University Hospital Monklands.
The telecommunication operative will be required to respond to a range of requests from external and internal users of services.
The successful candidate will provide an efficient 24/7 Switchboard, Helpdesk and information service for NHSL.
The telecommunication operative will facilitate prompt communications in response to internal and external stakeholders via telephone and IT, including emails and service request software packages, in a courteous and professional manner.
The post holder will act as a principal point of contact for staff, patients and other external stakeholders out of normal working hours.
Responsibilities
* Monitor various internal alarm systems.
* Summon key staff in an emergency situation, including but not limited to medical gas alarms, blood fridge alarms, fire alarms and major incidents.
* Respond to emergencies, communicating with emergency services e.g. Police, Fire, and Scottish Ambulance Services.
* Respond as required to the access/egress systems within University Hospital Monklands.

What we'll need you to bring
* Educated to standard grade level or experience in a similar role.
* Well-developed interpersonal skills in customer care.
* Working knowledge of information technology and good keyboard skills.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.
* Understanding of a range of procedures and processes with the ability to follow strict local policy, procedures and protocols.
* Good organisational/numeracy skills.
* The post holder will be required to demonstrate excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative.
* Experience of dealing with difficult people/situations and the occasional emergency situation efficiently and effectively.
* Ensuring confidentiality, diplomacy and discretion are maintained at all times.
* Ability to update TURAS as necessary in preparation for annual appraisals and participate in staff appraisals in accordance with NHSL Policy.
* Undertake and maintain all mandatory training and undergo training as identified, which may be necessary.
