We’re seeking a skilled Lead Practitioner to help us provide excellent support, foster service development, and lead operational improvements.
As the Lead Practitioner, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient operation of the Community Equipment Service, providing clinical advice, managing complex cases, and supporting service development. You’ll work closely with health and social care professionals, lead audits, and contribute to policy development to ensure best practice.
Responsibilities Include:
* Advising and supporting prescribing clinicians to ensure appropriate equipment use.
* Authorising specialist equipment requests and monitoring compliance.
* Conducting equipment reviews in homes and care settings, focusing on complex cases.
* Managing and supporting the clinical support staff and supervising students.
* Leading the Clinical Reference Group to shape equipment policies and practices.
* Delivering training for clinicians and partner agencies to improve service outcomes.
* Developing and contributing to audits, research, and service evaluation.
* Representing the service at regional and national events.
You are an experienced professional with a strong background in community equipment, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, or a related field. You are passionate about service development, a strong communicator, and a natural leader who thrives in collaborative environments.
Essential Criteria:
* BSc in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Nursing, or equivalent Allied Health Professional Field.
* Current and ongoing HCPC registration (or equivalent professional body)
Experience:
* Post-qualification experience in NHS, local authority, or 3rd sector settings.
* Proven experience managing and supervising staff.
* In-depth knowledge of community equipment and general medical conditions.
Skills:
* Excellent verbal and written communication.
* Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
* Competency in training facilitation and policy development.
* Ability to assess risk and work independently.
As you may be asked to drive a Council vehicle, an ability to drive is essential.
